The Chinese Yuan Offshore (CNH) is a special version of the Chinese Renminbi (CNY) used for international trade and financial markets outside mainland China. Unlike the onshore yuan (CNY), which is tightly controlled by the People's Bank of China (PBOC), the CNH is freely traded and subject to market forces. The introduction of CNH in Hong Kong in 2010 was a strategic move to internationalize the yuan and provide foreign investors with easier access to Chinese currency. This dual-currency system allows China to maintain monetary control domestically while enabling global trade in yuan. CNH is widely used in international trade settlements, particularly with China?s major trading partners.
